for artists in China. If an artist is a member of the CAA, he is listed at the
national level. Membership of provincial branches of the CAA means he is
listed at the provincial level, etc. A provincial membership or above implies
formal training, years of practice, tremendous effort and extraordinary talent.
No amateur that is.
There are other commercial and private
associations with glamorous names. But Kam, who is not a painter at all, can
pay a little money and become a member of such associations right away.
They are just nothing like the CAA.
